If you had asked me a few years ago whether I would be starting my own marketing agency, I’m not sure what I would have said.
In 2024, I started the Advertising and Marketing Communications program at Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario. I knew I loved creativity and marketing, but I didn’t know exactly where those interests would take me.
Two years later, I graduated with more than just a diploma. I left with real client experience, great connections, a lot of inspiration, and, most importantly, the confidence to build something of my own.

That something became Pixelle Agency.
Where It All Started
One of the biggest parts of my experience at Georgian College was getting the opportunity to work on projects that felt much more like real agency work than traditional school assignments.
Together with some of my classmates, I was part of JAMBO Creative, a student marketing agency we created during our studies.
We worked with real businesses, researched their challenges, developed marketing strategies and campaigns, created recommendations, presented our ideas directly to clients, and even competed for prize money based on our work.
That experience completely changed how I looked at marketing.
We weren’t just creating something for a grade. We were learning how to understand a business, find opportunities, develop ideas, defend our recommendations, and communicate them to someone who could actually use them.
I genuinely loved it.
I loved the creative side, but I also loved the process behind it, basically figuring out what a business needed, finding its voice, and turning an idea into something people could actually see and connect with.
Some of these projects also led to connections and client opportunities outside of school, which gave me even more confidence that this was something I wanted to continue doing.

From Student Projects to Something of My Own
Throughout my studies, I kept thinking about what I wanted to do after graduation.
I knew I wanted to work in marketing, but I also knew that the traditional idea of having one employer and following someone else’s schedule wasn’t necessarily what I wanted for myself.
I had always been interested in freelance work.
I wanted the freedom to manage my own time, choose the projects I worked on, work directly with clients, and, most importantly, spend my time doing something I genuinely enjoy.
I love creativity. I love coming up with ideas and turning them into something visual. I love helping brands figure out what makes them different and how they can communicate that to their audience.
So eventually, the question became:
Why not build something of my own?
That’s when Pixelle Agency started becoming more than just an idea.
Starting From Scratch
Starting a business sounds exciting, and it is. But there is also a side of it that isn’t always visible.
Before Pixelle Agency was officially up and running, I was already reaching out to potential clients, researching their businesses, putting together recommendations, developing marketing plans, and creating proposals.
And not every proposal turned into a project.
Some businesses weren’t ready to invest in marketing. Some couldn’t justify the cost. Some decided to go in a different direction. And sometimes, I simply never heard back.
That can be difficult when you’re starting from scratch.
You can spend hours researching a company, thinking about its audience, identifying opportunities, developing ideas and putting together a proposal without knowing whether any of that work will turn into a client. And until a project is officially approved, you can’t rely on that income.
But I also learned that this is part of building a business.
Not every opportunity will work out. Not every person will say yes. And sometimes the biggest lesson you get from a “no” is simply learning to keep going.
The Challenge of Standing Out
There was another challenge I quickly became aware of. There are a lot of marketing agencies out there.
So why would someone choose Pixelle?
That question became especially important when I started building the website. I wanted the first experience someone had with Pixelle Agency to feel intentional.
If I’m telling businesses that their brand, website, content and marketing matter, then my own agency needs to demonstrate that too.
I didn’t want the website to simply say, “We offer social media, branding, websites and advertising.”
I wanted someone to land on it and immediately understand who we are, what we believe in, and what kind of experience they could expect from working with us.
The website became one of the first ways I could show rather than tell people what Pixelle is about. You can see that approach in our portfolio.
So, What Is Pixelle Agency?
Pixelle Agency is a marketing agency built around creativity, strategy and individuality.
But I don’t want it to feel like just another agency.
I know what it’s like to start something from scratch because I’m doing it myself.
That’s also why I want to work with businesses that might not have huge marketing budgets or an entire marketing department behind them.
I’ve noticed that some smaller businesses see marketing and advertising as something they can live without or something that automatically has to cost a lot of money.
I don’t believe that.
Marketing doesn’t always have to mean a huge advertising budget.
- Sometimes it’s about finally figuring out what your brand is trying to say.
- Sometimes it’s improving your website.
- Sometimes it’s creating content consistently.
- Sometimes it’s taking photos that actually represent your business.
- Sometimes it’s simply finding a way to make people remember you.
Those things can make a difference.
And I want Pixelle Agency to help businesses find those opportunities.
Why “Pixelle”?
Pixelle is about creativity and the little details that can make a brand memorable.
I wanted the agency to feel creative, but still professional. Personal, but still strategic.
The name itself has a little story behind it, too. “Pixel” represents the digital side of what I do and the world of digital marketing, content, and design. The “-elle” is a personal touch inspired by ELLE, a magazine I used to read as a teenager. I wanted the name to have that connection to creativity and the digital world, while still reflecting a little bit of my own personality and feminine side.
Together, it became Pixelle — a name that feels creative, digital, and personal to me.
Because that’s how I see marketing.
It’s not just about making something look good.
It’s about understanding the business behind the brand, understanding the people you’re trying to reach, and finding the right way to connect the two.
What I Learned Before Launching Pixelle
If there is one thing I took away from my time at Georgian College and the beginning of this journey, it’s that you don’t need to have everything figured out before you start.
I certainly didn’t.
I started with my education, the experience I gained through JAMBO Creative and real client projects, the skills I developed along the way, and a lot of motivation to create something of my own.
I’ve also learned that rejection is part of the process. So is uncertainty. So is spending hours on something that might not work out. But so is getting that first client.
Winning a project. Seeing someone use an idea you created. Getting a message from a business saying they love what you’ve done.
Those moments make all the uncertainty worth it.
And This Is Only the Beginning
Pixelle Agency is still at the beginning of its story.
I don’t know exactly where this journey will take me, and honestly, I think that’s part of the excitement.
What I do know is that I want to help businesses become more visible, find their voice, and show people what makes them different.
I want to prove that effective marketing doesn’t have to be complicated or reserved for companies with huge budgets.
And I want to keep creating. That’s ultimately why I started Pixelle.
Not because I had everything figured out. But because I found something I genuinely enjoy doing and decided to build something around it.
So, welcome to Pixelle Agency.
This is where the story begins.
